Public Health Book, whole book, by: A WHO Collaborating Centre

In this informational/guidance book, a WHO Collaborating Centre explains proper guidance and gives valid information about world health issues/problems.
One  example that supports this main idea is that it educates the reader about chemical substances and how avoiding them is critical based on the harm they can do. Another example that supports this main idea is how the book talks about National functions and how important the nation knows it is to be fully aware of all chemical incidents to the population. Finally, the author gives the fact of how the WHO assesses issues and evaluates the impact on the health of the public to support the main idea.
These ideas are connected to the role of the WHO (world health organization) because they go into detail about how the World Health Organization is constantly working to protect the health of the public.

More on WHO

http://www.school.eb.com/eb/art-95697/World-Health-Organization-officials-examining-the-home-of-a-suspected?&articleTypeId=49\
It this picture, there are men in what look to be special suits designed to keep them safe from what is around them.  They are suspecting the home of a death from the suspected Marburg Virus, which seems to not frighten the local townspeople at all that there potentially is a deadly virus present.

The WHO follows/works by a six-point motto:
-promote health and socioeconomic development
-defend outbreaks of disease by improving health security
-reduce poverty by strengthening health services
-generate health information that can be shared with the public
-collaborate and encourage partnerships between international, nonprofit, and private organizations
-reform and improve the organization's performance and its associated branches/centers

*WHO sponsors measures for the control of epidemics and endemic diseases by promoting mass campaigns involving nationwide vaccination programs, suggesting the use of antibiotics
*WHO encourages the expansion of public health and provides governments with technical advice to long-term national health plans

World Health Organization (WHO)

-the WHO has a mandate as well as expertise to coordinate international public health matters
-their goal is to promote the health of all people of the world, and specifically, to combat diseases, especially critical infectious diseases
-WHO is best known for its management of global health issues
-WHO alerts are based more on transmissibility and susceptibility than lethality
-WHO officials declared that the novel influenza outbreak in Mexico (with milder cases initially also reported in the United States) was a "public health emergency of international concern"
-many people believe the WHO's alerts are too narrow and shoule put more emphasis on health and disease awareness alerts
-WHO officials continue to offer recommendations for individuals and communities concerning disease and health management

Does WHO really cover the entire world?
Does WHO look to help those less fortunate?
Does WHO have a specific goal to achieve?

Medicine Background

-the average life expectancy in 1900 grew 30 years by the year 2000

-a global polio eradication initiative was begun in 1988, at which time about 350,000 children in 125 children on five continents were crippled each year by the highly contagious viral disease that attacks the nervous system
-in 1910 the discovery of Salvarson turned out to be the first drug effective against syphilis, beginning the era of modern antimicrobial drug therapy
-smallpox, one of the most deadly and debilitating scourges the world had ever known, represents one of the greatest accomplishments in modern medicine
-in 1980 AIDS aroused caused by the HIV which rapidly grew into a global pandemic

How do different places in the world take care of medical issues?

What are the differences from American hostpitals to South African hospitals?
Do countries with different medical issues contain different specialists?
Can some hospitals in different places in the world only heal specific problems?
Do any cultures not allow medical attention?
