-SS General Theodor Eicke was the Inspector of Concentration Camps.
- The concentration camp was on the bank of the Danube River, near the “Wiener Graben” stone quarry.
- Nazis intended to use the prisoners in the camp for hard labor in the Quarry.
-By the end of 1938, the camped had collected 1000 members.
- In December 1939, the number had increased to over 2,600 prisoners.
- Many of the people in Mauthausen were convicted criminals, "asocials," political opponents, and religious objectors, such as Jehovah's Witnesses.
- 4th Regiment- SS Death's-Head Battalion- assigned to guard the camp.
-Mauthausen- concentration camp located in Austria.
-International Brigades- most were communists of various nationalities that were incarcerated in the camp.

ReplyDeletewant to think about this because, to me, keeping the prisoners in was very important, so the guards must have been very strong.
Lauren, you made some good points about the Mauthausen concentration camp. I agree with them because concentration camps are able to reach up to 3,000 people.
